Harem Trousers / Hareem Pants

On the Catwalks over the past few years, and heavily on the streets this year. Comfortable, edgy and way funky, this season I'm loving Harem Trousers, or Hareem Pants, whatever you want to call them. Firstly, I must warn you, Hareems are not always a top favourite with the men. This weekend my best mate showed me her gorgeous pair, whilst moaning "I LOVE them but my fiancé hates them!"

Admittedly, they can look a little unflattering on your body, but to me - it's all about how you wear them and what you team these funky little trousers up with. Lets be real, 'Baggy around the butt and crotch' isn't exactly a body flattering shape, but I guarantee you - a gorgeous top and funky shoes will go a long way to making the outfit look super hot... and maybe even change your man's opinion! Also, don't be frightened off if you usually like to play it safe. There are literally TONS of varying degree's of 'bagginess' available, which will be sure to suit most people's body types. Try them out - you might be pleasantly surprised.

Tops that suit: Ok, so being as your bottom is going to have some very loose fabric around it, if you want to retain your feminity and not look overweight - you need to make sure you wear the right top. Opt for more of a figure hugging top or at least something that shows your true shape. Longer tops are a definite NO NO. Sheer, fabrics are great too. If you're going for an edgy, funky look, you can wear a shirt tucked in, with a few of the top buttons undone. Crop tops are also HUGE this summer, it's all about the 80's influence, but if you don't want your stomach on full view, you can still get the stylish look by wearing a contrasting vest underneath or opting for high waisted trousers. Bustier/Boob-tube tops are also great with Hareems, they're undoubtedly figure flattering and feminine, so they will create a street chic look. Put a little waistcoat on to make it more interesting, or wear a pretty necklace if it looks bare. A tucked in Cami looks effortlessly chic and is great for work if the fabric is elegant. A plain ribbed vest is also fantastic for a neat, comfy daytime 'Jennifer Aniston' look.

On your feet: For a funky stye you can team your hareems up with a pair of brogues. Comfy daytime, go with pretty plimsoles or a pair of ballet flats. If you want to glam it up and turn a few heads, you can mix it up with a gorgeous pair of heels or wedges. If you're all about comfort and effortless style - wear a pair of flip-flops or sandals!

Rolling with Ebony & Ivory

We all know how important it is to have that key wardrobe accessory that can come in handy at any time, whether it be dressing your favourite outfit up, adding that extra bit of style or simply saving any fashionista’s dressing dilemma.

So you can imagine the excitement in the fashion world when we heard about Ebony & Ivory - the hottest accessory label of the moment dealing in Rock n roll / hippy / romantic /quirky scarves. It is this ironic mix that makes them so special and a must have for both Summer and Winter.

These extra long lovelies are made from a mix of classic Palestinian, Tibetan and Skull scarves with a complimenting colour palette and each with their own handwritten love poetry along the seams, most of which from Oscar Wilde. I love that the scarves are made by a team at the White Raven, a nonprofit group that teaches job skills to the handicapped.

Ebony & Ivory designer, Bianca Vaitl (a former German model) has not only ensured a cult celebrity following from the likes of Mischa Barton, Gisele Bundchen and Heidi Klum with her unusual creations but has also established her spot in The Scarf Room at the prestigious Liberty Of London where Creative Consultant, Yasmin Sewell and her team placed the scarves on their ‘Must have’ list for 2009. The gorgeous statement scarfs were also recently featured in Vogue.

Even better than appreciating designer Bianca Vaitl's scarves as they are, last week, the fashion pack were given the amazing opportunity to meet and greet Bianca herself at Liberty. The special, one off event allowed people to choose their scarf along with any personal inscription which Bianca will hand wrote then and there. The designer also gave some handy tips on how to style the scarves.

With accessories being the prime player in the industry at the moment, the team behind Ebony & Ivory are certainly keyed up on what the fashion capitals are after this season and next. So whether you are after those unique romantic words of love or just simply a name or image on your chosen scarf for that super present hurry down to Regent’s street finest department store for an authentic accessory which will never run out of style steam.

The Re-Reign of the Gladiator!

You may all remember back in January, I put together a blog of how to update your winter wardrobe using key accessories…so I thought it was only fair to do the same now the summer months are upon us.

I’ve decided to focus on one key accessory as they are by far the most exciting fashion statement of the moment and come in so many interesting styles, making them an option for most occasions. The marvel that I talk of is indeed-The Gladiator Sandal.

Worn by many cultures throughout the early ages, these strap cladded wonders are so versatile and are making a comeback this season. They hit the high street big time in 2007 with style icons such as Kate Moss sporting many different pairs and have been in the shadows ever since. However, with this summer’s fashion really showing us how to mix things up, with clashing prints and any shape goes, the gladiator sandal has once again found itself back on the footwear circuit.

Asos.com, like always offers us the best of the best with so much variety in terms of style and cost. One of the combos that we see this time around is a great one; thick leather buckles contrasted against beautiful sequins, studs jewels and stones.

These Blowfish gladiators come in at a very reasonable £49.

Aldo shoes, one of the most popular on the high street, have a whole section named ‘Gladiator Story’ on their website dedicated to this particular style.

Check out their DRYZIN model for fabulous turquoise straps mixed with those chunky stones. Or how about CHISEM for some wrap around animal print leather.

These Carvela wedge heeled gladiators are perfect for that smart summer dress and are the perfect way to tap into the Summer ‘09 Metallic craze.
(£60).

Gold is a highly flattering colour against most skin tones, Sienna Miller looks chic out and about in New York wearing a pair of Gold flat footed ankle gladiator sandals.

And finally if you’re really brave and have got the legs for them, why not follow in the footsteps of Chanel and try knee high ones. STYLE ALERT!!

Ashlee Olsen loves her pair of Black Chanel High Leg Gladiator Sandals, and showing just how versatile Gladiator Sandals are: Ashlee wears them both with a daytime outfit comprising of denim shorts and a shirt, as well as an evening out in combination with a little black mini-dress with a tassled leather handbag.

Another pair of super-high Gladiators are these Balenciaga's... Rihanna wears hers with a Matthew Williamson top, I'm not sure about the combo, but with a different outfit - they’re quite hot!

I found these AMAZING knee high blue ones from Anna Sui at Net-a-Porter.com. At £420, they are at the higher end of the price range, but I think the colour, the stud detail and even the shape make the money more than worth it.

Gladiator rules:

1. Stick to low strap sandals if your ankle conscious.
2. Knee/calf high ones tend to suit taller, boyish figures as they can shape the legs.
3. If choosing a bright coloured pair, don’t match them with an item of clothing of a similar colour. This season is all about clashing with style, for example the Anna Sui blue beauties above would look so on trend with a Zebra print dress.
4. The Gladiator is ever so versatile so feel free to experiement with what you team them with. However, after having a browse on the streets of London: florals look fab with a studded pair, denim shorts look rock and roll with the knee highs, and you can match a jewelled flat pair with just about anything.
5. They can look cool for day or night wear, but if picking them for an evening outfit, be sure to dress the outfit up in other ways using accessories (try some exotic jewellery or a pretty scarf)

Topshop have some great pairs here at the moment, the ‘Haidee-High gladiator’ fit right in with Kate’s fashion fix and they come in coral as well as black…at £25 each it means you don’t have to choose.

Sarah Jessica Parker, Ashley Olsen and Heidi Montag all been spotted rocking the Blue Balenciaga Gladiator Heels whilst Fergie opts for a fire-engine red pair on a night out which have been the subject of many internet "hot or not" debates.

Check out Beyonce’s multicoloured pair…you can grab yourself almost a complete replica from Aldo with their Rosenberger (here) AND they come in two colour ways which is even better. Maybe Beyonce did get hers from there?!

With over 19 markets in Europe and North America, the high street favourite that is H&M really couldn’t be doing any better at the moment. With previous designer collaborations including Karl Lagerfield, Stella McCartney and Commes Des Garcons, it really came as no surprise to see that they have welcomed Matthew Williamson through their doors to create a masterpiece for Spring 2009.

Williamson, who like most successful designers of today studied at Central St Martins college and graduated in 1994 in fashion design and printed textiles. In 1997 he founded Matthew Williamson Ltd with business partner Joseph Velosa and later that year secured his debut catwalk show which he called ‘Electric Angels’. With models such as Kate Moss , Helena Christensen, Jade Jagger and Diane Kruger all fronting the runway, it was guaranteed to be a success and insured him a place on the A-List fashion scene.

After a three year stint at the Italian fashion house, Pucci as Creative Director, Williamson returned to London in 2008 to concentrate on his own label full time. Undoubtedly at the top of his game, he is now a regular favourite on the twice yearly schedule at New York Fashion Week and therefore a collaboration with a hugely successful clothing Company like H&M seemed only logical.

The most successful aspect of all the collaborations appears to be the way that the designers can mix H&M’s relaxed yet chic style with their own signature look.

What’s even better about Williamson’s creations is that they have been offered to us in two helpings; the limited edition fashion range which was launched in April and now a unique summer collection which has been available since the 14th May. The long flowing maxi dresses mixed with kimonos and kaftan's all in a fabulous peacock palette highlight the creativity behind the British legend and echo his quirky catwalk range.

Celebrities are also loving Matthew's Spring Collection with the likes of Katy Perry and Nicky Hilton both choosing to wear one of Matthew's amazing Peacock feather print dresses to their recent engagements.

Full of colour and combining many of his signature prints, the beautifully crafted collection has already sold out in most H&M flagship stores so hurry, hurry hurry if you would like to 'share a glimpse of the Matthew Williamson range.'

After having a quick peek in London’s Oxford Street branch just after the first delivery I picked out this stunning ethnic dress which screams summer bohemian.

An afternoon with Giacomina designer Jacqueline Headlam

Whilst attending an exhibition in London this weekend, my eye was caught by a strikingly chic collection of designer leather handbags and I got chatting to the inspirational designer, British born Jacqueline Headlam .

Stunning to look at, it was no surprise that Jacqueline entered the fashion industry as a model and even won a national modelling competition judged by the likes of Elite a few years ago. She modelled in New York, London and Germany, regularly taking part in London Fashion week financing her way through University. Following her subsidiary degree in Broadcast Journalism, Headlam worked on TV as a Television Fashion expert, re-styling individuals on make-over shows.

Jacqueline went on to complete a Fashion Journalism course at the London College of Fashion and wrote a series of articles on the industry's emerging young stars. She then set up "Jacqueline's Unique Boutique", a boutique specialising in the sale of classic English designs for women.

In Jacqueline's own words:

"I found selling other people's designs frustrating especially as I had so many ideas of my own. I started producing sketches for accessories, buying quite spectacular materials, but not having formal training, there wasn't any correlation between the images in my mind and my final creations."

Jacqueline travelled to Italy where she met a team of talented Italian and English artisans who have produced goods for the likes of Fendi and Harrods. They collaborated to create Italian named Giacomina, a designer label producing a beautiful range of exclusive, one-off and limited edition hand-made bags.

These super chic designer handbags are gorgeous to touch and the attention to detail is unrivalled. The various ranges include the Shopper, a Vintage collection, Classic range and the La Luna. You'll find furs, wool, soft leathers and patent leathers across the range in bold colours and animal prints, something for every occasion! Right now Giacomina's product line includes Handbags and Hats, however there are future plans for a leather accessories line for men.

These are designer handbags with a story, exceptionally superior in quality and made to be noticed! Most certainly worth the investment for any fashionista with fabulous taste.

27 year old Pop Singer Beyonce Knowles who is currently preparing to hit the road for the North American leg of her "I am" world tour has landed the cover of Marie Claire Magazine's June 2009 issue. Jay-Z's wifey is having a fantastic month as she also covers the June 2009 German issue of Glamour Magazine!

The Marie Claire article carries the following tagline:

She Is Legend. Beyoncé Knowles is making the most of her moment, mounting a 110-city tour in 6-inch heels. What keeps her going? The answer is—literally—written on her fingernails.

My favourite piece:

I catch a glimpse of some sort of black lettering on the silver acrylic nails on her left hand. "Can I see?" I ask. And suddenly Beyoncé becomes bashful. "It's nothing," she says, letting her left hand slip below the table and out of sight. "They're just reminders," she offers."Reminders of what, exactly?""Happiness," she says, with a coy tilt of her head. "They just make me smile when I'm working."
"Here," she says, finally offering her left hand, and blushing like the newlywed she is. In the Photoshoot, the Singer turned Actress models a few of the 58 outfits Thierry Mugler designed for her "I am" world tour. Designer Thierry Mugler was present to help out at the shoot, along with Thierry Mugler's team: assistant and Project Runway alum Chris March and director of style Yves Pagan. Knowles's wardrobe adviser (and mom) Tina was also there to survey gowns pulled by MC's Jenny Capitain.

When questioned about one of her newer hit singles 'All the single ladies', Beyonce had the following to say:

“More than anything, the song celebrates being single. It’s like, if you’ve been doing all you can and it’s not happening for you, go out and have you a good old time. Put on your sexy dress and move on. I know I’m stronger in the songs than I really am. Sometimes I need to hear it myself. We all need to hear those empowering songs to remind
us.”

Stars shine at the MET Costume Institute Gala 2009

It was in New York City yesterday that all the most beautiful stars came out to play dressed in their best gowns to make an attendance at the fashion equivalent of the Oscars: The prestigious “Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion” Costume Institute Gala held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The glamorous star-studded event was co-hosted by none other than supermodel and fashion icon Kate Moss. Kate certainly stole the show in a striking Gold Toga and matching headdress, and if that wasn't enough to capture the spotlight - she was also accompanied on the red carpet by world famous fashion designer and personal friend Marc Jacobs.

My favourite dress of the night has to be Ashley Olsen's beautiful white dress which was surprisingly her own creation. To me Ashley looks almost like an old Hollywood style painting in this dress.

Following at a close second was Kate Bosworth's black lace Stella McCartney dress.

My prize for the most outrageous outfit goes to Madonna, yes it had to be her! The 51 year old singer turned up at the Gala in thigh-high leather fetish boots and some bizzare turquoise headgear.

Agyness Deyn attended the Gala looking like a tall, skinny version of Marilyn Monroe, only Agyness! Rihanna ensured that she stood out wearing a Dolce and Gabbana jacket which was charactarised by accentuated shoulder pads. The ordinarily sleek Victoria Beckham wore a big black pair of dominatrix/fetish style Marc Jacobs heels of which I am not a fan. Madonna's fetish style Marc Jacobs boots had an identical heel.

I wasn't at all convinced by Tyra Bank's strange hairdo which looked like a hat on her head, however she made no apologies for it and wore the style with confidence.

My favourite accessory for the night was Actress Rachel Bilson's cute shiny Art Deco Clutch purse.

Leonardo's girl, Israeli model Bar Refaeli gets my vote for the best all-rounder. Bar showed everybody just how lucky Leo is to have bagged the Sports Illustrated Covergirl. Despite wearing very little make-up her face was absolutely flawless, Bar has an amazing figure and has the blessing of perfect pins. I love Bar's Marchesa mini-dress, a flattering choice. I just couldn't fault her!

As for the most beautiful couple, I think it's a close contest between couples Tom + Gisele and Jessica + Justin. My vote goes for newlyweds Tom + Gisele, Gisele's blue mini-dress is simple and understated, yet incredibly chic. My vote was swung by the visible chemistry between the newlyweds, Gisele's happiness makes her even more beautiful.

Welcome to spring ladies. The sun is shining, flip flop time is nearly here and the summer fashion frenzy has already begun. There are sales popping up all over the place from many high street retailers offering their best bargains to online favourites such as asos.com treating us to prices we just can’t say no to.

However, the newest and quite frankly coolest member to the online club is Theoutnet.com, the most recent business empire pioneered by Natalie Massenet, the founder of online designer retailer Net-a-porter.com. The fashion site is basically the equivalent of a shopping outlet or mall where all the goods are from last season and therefore discounted by at least 40%. But lets be honest when these goods include bags from the likes of Mulberry, and dresses from hot new designers such as Alexander Wang, who cares about their place on the fashion time line.

The team behind the site have summed their ethos up perfectly, ensuring word of mouth is top of the agenda, ‘the Outnet is the global shopping destination devoted to selling discounted designer womenswear and accessories.’

The layout and design of the site is simple yet chic and has been perfectly created to hold an array of designers all offering us their goodies. The fact that such a fashionable and varied set of brands are on board the project only goes to show how well established Net-a-porter has become and how important the relationships with the client base are. We can only hope this means that other trendy members of the designing fashion elite won’t hesitate to join.

Apart from finding my Christmas AND birthday presents for the next two years on this fashion domain, my favourite section is ‘Dress me’; a personal styling service all done through the computer. The titles include ‘Vacation planner, Fashion Trends, Social Events, Chic essentials, Wear this forever, and Working wardrobe.’ What a truly genius idea this is, with Little black dresses having their own page and a ‘meet the parents ‘ area where you will find cute floral dresses, ruffle shirts and bow skirts all highlighting how spot on the creators really are.

With shoppers everywhere searching for good quality items at a reasonable price, word on the street is that the Outnet.com is set to be huge. Despite being new at the moment, if the success of big sister site, Net-a-porter is anything to go by, we know it will be just as fabulous and no doubt in the near future include all the extra little features.

Topshop launches in New York!

Whenever I shop in London’s Oxford Street, I love to pop into the world of Topshop: and a world it certainly is at their flagship store. With everything from clothes and shoes to a beauty studio, a restaurant and even its own hair salon, Topshop, Oxford Street really is a true department store!

The brand that started off selling clothing in Peter Robinson stores in 1964 is now a multi-million pound empire that is, for most people, associated with wearable and affordable clothing and accessories, as well as being at the cutting edge of high street fashion.

However, despite the UK being treated to over 300 stores, with London being the metropolis of them all, American Fashionistas have not yet had the opportunity to experience the phenomenon that is Topshop. This is all about to change, as yesterday, 2nd of April 2009, New York’s 478 Broadway showcased America’s first taste of the true English styles that have become synonymous with the brand.

The store was actually supposed to open last year but unfortunately, because of construction problems the launch date had to be put back.

Situated over four floors, the flagship store will host all of their main lines such as Topman, MOTO, Unique and Kate Moss’s range; as well as exclusive collections by American designers. The ‘Style Advisor’ and the personal shopping service will also be adding to the flavour of the store.

Given its current success in the UK under the umbrella of the Arcadia Group, it is not surprising that Topshop has now decided to invade the US market, and especially in such an affluent area of New York. This was all predominantly down to Sir Phillip Green, (pictured left with Kate Moss) whose business acumen can certainly withstand any new venture.

The billionaire entrepreneur who grew up in South London bought Arcadia in 1999 and has since transformed it into a thriving empire with others brands such as Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins sitting aligned with Topshop. Under the watchful eye of Green, it seems the Topshop team are always establishing new ways to expand the creativity and visions behind the growing brand. The most popular and most successful so far have been there sponsorship for the ‘New Generation’ scheme at London Fashion Week which gives young designers financial support in order for them to produce their collections. Also, in 2005, Topshop Unique (part of the Boutique collection) was selected as the first high street range to be shown at London Fashion Week resulting in New York boutique ‘Opening Ceremony’ buying and stocking the range.

Around the same time in 2005, Green was not only meeting and greeting but also plotting and planning with one of the world’s hottest supermodels; Kate Moss. The 34-year old fashion icon sealed the deal with Green for a reported £4 million a year and since May 2007 has launched eight best-selling collections and has a personal input into them all with some pieces being replica's of her own wardrobe wonder’s.

Pieces from previous collections have included her signature style staples such as skinny jeans and denim hot-pants as well as each collection providing a new take on her mini dresses.

Whether you are a regular Mossy follower or a new customer, Spring Summer 2009 looks set to be huge and after having a peek on Topshop.com it certainly won’t disappoint. The new collection which is inspired by Kate’s love for floral/feminine pieces mixed with her ‘rock n’ roll spirit’ will be launched in London and New York on the 2nd April.

I think it is fair to say that having modelled for some of the world’s most prestigious designers (Chanel, Roberto Cavalli and Louis Vuitton), Kate Moss undoubtedly knows a thing or two about fashion and how lucky we should feel that Topshop have offered us all a slice of her fashion pie.

So if you’re an American fashionista through and through, a trip down to 478 Broadway would certainly be advised and if you’re a true Brit then be content in the fact that there will always be a Topshop waiting around a high-street corner for you. An evening with ‘Giles’ Deacon

After spending an amazing evening at the V&A (Victoria & Albert) Museum in London listening to a talk with the iconic and influential designer Giles Deacon, I thought it was only fair to share some of what I heard and learnt with all you Fabricjam devotees!

Known as ‘Giles’ in the industry, Mr Deacon is arguably the very best contemporary fashion designer today. With a British Designer of the year award under his belt as well as counting Tom Ford, Katie Grand and Kate Moss as his friends, Giles has established himself as a solid part in the framework of London Fashion.

The former Bottega Veneta designer was born in Cumbria, North West England, a beautiful and predominantly rural county. His surroundings weren’t necessarily linked to fashion or style at all therefore having an awareness of trends wasn’t of any importance to Giles whilst growing up. It was only when he picked up his first copy of the contemporary style and design magazine i-D as a teenager that he realised the appeal of clothes as a construct.

The 80’s band scene was a musical era Giles was surrounded by and also very interested in. Looking back at various 80’s bands in copies of the i-D mag, all dressed in Vivienne Westwood’s creations you can see why his interest was evoked.

“It gave me an aesthetic awareness”

Giles was keen to stress the point that for him designing is a very personal thing and in that respect, any ideas must come from within, however insignificant they may seem and regardless of whether the ideas fit with the ‘fashionable’ colour or fabric for that season. It is this raw quality about Giles that makes his designs so appealing and fascinatingly unique.

It was at London’s Central Saint Martins (the epicentre of British fashion) that Giles took his place to study in the late 1980’s. This decision was to prove a very successful career move as it was there that he met Katie Grand (pictured below left), the most powerful stylist around today and a former consultant at Prada who served to boost his career. It was Deacons personal and professional relationship with Grand that bagged him the job at Bottega Veneta, the Italian luxury leather goods company best known for its shoes and bags.

‘The designers at Bottega offered for me to ring up for an interview so I did and that was that. Doing that type of thing was very 80’s.’

Despite working his magic on the brand for a year and helping the company launch a ready-to-wear line of clothing, the Gucci group already had other ideas and in 2001 announced that they were to buy Bottega Veneta. Giles, who was now a recognised designer, was swiftly replaced by Tomas Maier, a German designer whose background was of a more classical style.

However, Giles’s talent did not go unnoticed and realising his innovative ideas Tom Ford, head of Gucci at the time snapped him up for the Gucci women's-wear label. Giles’s time at Gucci came to an end in 2002 when he decided he wanted to go it alone and create his own label. He was set on London being the base for what was to become a fashion phenomenon.

‘I was so keen for London to be the launch place; it seemed the right atmosphere for the type of clothes I wanted to create and compared to New York and Paris, the clothes are so unusual and quirky.’

Two years down the line and a whole lot of logistics worked out, Giles showcased his first runway collection for Autumn/Winter in 2004 at London Fashion Week which was met with great acclaim. It was the first of many collections to come which have transformed London each season.

Hearing Giles describe the design process behind his label was interesting and highly compelling, giving a unique insight into the working mind of such a creative genius. The most unusual yet intriguing aspect was the fact that his design team who ‘are a solid bunch’ often design the accessories like the shoes and hats before designing the clothing as he finds inspiration from different sections of the collection. He told us that sometimes the pieces are still being made in the week leading up to the shows!

Whatever work ethic Giles and his business team choose to employ, there is no doubting that the ‘playfulness’ of fashion that once attracted him has helped him turn his love for clothes into a designing domain. His subversive but obtainable, high-end creations are a must for every woman wanting that extra bit of confidence.

The most recent Autumn/Winter ’09 collection appeared to be a step up from his previous work, with famous models being mixed with random girls from a street casting walking the catwalk together and all adding to the maturity of the pieces which were inspired from his time at London Central Saint Martins in the 80’s.

With spikes, animal print, suede and metallic’s all overlapping each other, it was an unquestionably strong collection and one that certainly highlights the phenomenon that is Giles.

Luckily for us, this budding designer has no intention of going anywhere at the moment as he is happy with the success of ‘Giles’, however he did say that if a ‘good, solid brand’ approached him in the future then he would consider it.

For the moment though, let’s enjoy and embrace the quirky, statement pieces that Giles keeps rolling out and be grateful that such a unique designer really is so down to earth.

Katie Holmes dazzes in ad campaign for Miu Miu!

Katie Holmes is just full of surprises! Watching her act in her role as Joey Potter, an intelligent, philosophical and bordering on innocent teen on cult tv programme Dawsons Creek, one would never have thought her life would turn out quite the way it has.

Over the course of just a few years Katie Holmes has married Tom Cruise, given birth to a beautiful little girl Suri Cruise, joined the church of Scientology, befriended Victoria Beckham, Acted in Broadway Production, and now... completely nailed it in a spectacular photoshoot for Miu-Miu's Spring 2009 ad campaign. We heard that she was going to do it back in November but I certainly didn't expect it to be this good. In my opinion this eastern influenced shoot is one that will turn heads and will most certainly prove to be a huge success for the uber-trendy design house.

Every shot conveys it's own unique emotive qualities. Katies perfectly defined facial structure and natural beauty is highlighted by the rooms intense lighting contrasts and deep shadows. Katie looks comfortable in front of the camera and encompasses the look of being striking yet graceful in every shot. I love the lighting, the bold and deep colours contrasting with black shadows, the outfits, mosaic prints, fabrics, heels, drapery. What is there not to like about this campaign? Katie Holmes has truly put herself on the map as a model, see for yourself...

The best of the week (London fashion week!)

After the success of New York Fashion week, last weekend saw the fashion packs go crazy for the start of London, and there was not a spare seat in sight as British and International press along with celebrities came by to see what was on offer from designers such as Luella Bartley, Alexander Wang, Christopher Kane and Vivienne Westwood.

Despite the economic situation, the designers insured their collections were still original and many revamped the catwalk by bringing back past trends but with a twist. Giles Deacon’s creations were inspired by the feel of London in the late 80’s when he was at St. Martins Fashion College mixed with London style today. Pieces included thigh high leather boots, body-con dresses with a rebellious feel to them using studs and spikes, and unique prints on silk dresses. In an interview with Vogue TV, he said, ‘we wanted to do a cross-section of what’s exciting about London at the moment with how I felt when I first started college.’

Many other designers impressed the fashion elite as they sent their models down the runway. Probably the most anticipated show of the week was that of Savannah and Sienna Miller, whose label, Twenty8Twelve, is most certainly designed for the urban, sexy girl; and with that in mind, their creations for Autumn/Winter 2009 certainly didn’t disappoint. The week however is not just for the established designers who are used to showing off just how good they really are, but also for the fresh faces in fashion who are still working just as hard but need a way in to the designers domain, where recognition and respect are crucial for success.
This is where Vauxhall Fashion Scout comes in; a catwalk venue just up the road from the main fashion tent which supports these up and coming designers.
One of the most sophisticated shows to pop up on the sunny Saturday morning at the VFS, was that of Bryce D’Anice Aime, a French designer who was showcasing his work on the catwalk for the first time. D’Anice Aime, whose first ever collection was for Spring/Summer 2007 has clearly moved fast and is working hard in order to achieve a spot on the main fashion runway schedule in seasons to come.

With Natalie Wansbrough-Jones, senior fashion editor at ELLE UK styling the show, and Larare shoes beautifying the models feet, it was sure to be a stylish affair.

As Lady GaGa along with Mozart (an eccentric mix) blasted from the speakers, models emerged as what can only be described as exquisite pieces, with structured tailoring and luxurious fabrics coming together to make a dramatic infusion.

Structured shoulder styles are huge for Autumn/Winter 09.

My two most favourite looks included a long sleeved ivory shirt with longer side panels teamed with a metallic charcoal skirt which exuded the chic factor and some shiny skinny trousers in a metal colour pulled over a beautiful peach chiffon blouse.

The colour palette for the collection seemed to be this way inspired, with black, midnight blue, ivory and metal all providing a contrast to the softness of some of the pieces.

When I caught up with Bryce himself after the show, he explained that this collection ‘explores the dramatic universe of the Burlesque, inspired by the soft and hard edges of the showgirl world. Each piece is aimed at enhancing the wardrobe of the woman who likes to wear her garments from day to night.’

With this is mind I was instantly attracted to the pieces which on the one hand are somewhat daring with sheer mesh bodysuits but on the other extremely feminine with floaty dresses, but all very wearable.

The powerful themes behind Bryce’s creations have certainly worked well and with many of his key styles being spotted on the main runway later in the week with the mainstream designers, there is no doubt that he is bang on trend and it won’t be long until he is showcasing with the best of the best. (The piping spotted on one of Bryce’s skirts was a theme also used throughout Christopher Kane’s show later in the week.)

I will leave you with the designer’s final words to myself which completely sum up the perfection of the pieces and give you an insight into the creative mind of Bryce D’Anice Aime. ‘This collection is for the woman who wishes to create a distinct yet quiet drama within her wardrobe.’

February Fever

Through the snow, wind and rain it can sometimes feel that February is just an extension of the January blues, but in the fashion calendar, the Valentine fuelled month is always an exciting time and industry fashionistas everywhere are preparing for one of their busiest months. Elle magazine started the proceedings on Monday night with their prestigious style awards held at Big Sky Studios in North London which I had the privilege of attending!

Despite the rain it really was glam galore, with celebrities such as Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller and Courtney Love all gracing the red carpet in their fabulous frocks. Alexa, who hosted the awards, wore a stunning backless Chanel dress whilst Sienna Miller chose a Matthew Williamson number teamed with a Louis Vuitton jacket and looked radiant as she collected the award for ‘Style Icon.’

My two favourite outfits were sported by Alexandra Burke (2008 X-factor winner) and ultra trendy designer Henry Holland who teamed his House of Holland tee with a vintage jacket decorated with a hot heart print. He certainly proved that fashion can often look cooler when you mix different styles, genres and brands; cheap or chic.

I absolutely love brogues, on men and women. High street favourite, Office, introduced the original Scottish shoe style to us last year but they are still hanging around and I think they look so awesome either with skinny skinny jeans or a funky dress and black tights.

Alexandra looked divine in D&G-rocking the nautical theme and highlighting just how fab this huge Spring Summer trend can look.

Other awards of the night included Rupert Sanderson for Accessories designer, delightful duo Viktor and Rolf for Style Visionaries and Christopher Kane for British designer.

Design team Viktor and Rolf are known for their quirky sense of humour. If you fancy a virtual magical trip check out their website http://www.viktor-rolf.com/; it’s certainly a shopping ‘experience.’

The fun continued into the night at the after party with free flowing Moet served in miniature bottles and Godiva chocolates being passed around on grand silver trays.

I found the chic touches made for a super evening and the whole event brought the February fashion fever to life in style.

But fast forward less than a week and the fashion pack are presented with the first of four fashion weeks spreading over Feb and March starting with New York. The phenomenon is then passed on to London before bombarding Milan and Paris. I find it impossible to comprehend how the designers cope at this time of the year, creating and organising their collections as the fashion cycle gets shorter and shorter every year. Whilst we prepare for Spring 2009, they are experimenting for Spring 2010!

Preparing for Spring/Summer '09

Transitioning your wardrobe from one season to another can be a somewhat frustrating art to master. No sooner have we become used to the wonderful winter collections thrust into the shops along with sale rails begging to be browsed, it’s then a seemingly instant shift in trends and we are presented with a whole new collection offering new colours, styles, fabrics and designs!

With a bit of thought and good advice, dressing in style between seasons can be exciting. I’ve been out shopping in London and browsing the latest catwalk collections to put together some style advice and inspiration just for you, ensuring you are ahead of the game for the next few months whilst also being spring summer chic when the sun finally arrives.

I’ve identified a few key and exciting trends for this season such as bold colours, florals, harem trousers, jumpsuits, gingham, denim and more. You'd be right in thinking that none of these trends are new but they’re progressing this season and looking even better than before!

If cash is tight for you right now, remember that window shopping is a fashionista’s first ingredient to a wonderful wardrobe, so always keep an eye on the catwalks for inspiration and lookout for the styles that suit you best.

Bold colours
The most exciting theme that popped up on the Spring Summer Catwalk for me were the bold colours and prints. Bright blues combined with other strikingly bold colours led the way for Gucci in Milan.

Combining bright colours can achieve a stylish and unique look. Uniqlo, the increasingly popular casual wear retailer have also picked up on this colour blocking idea and turned them into a sensation for their new collection.

I like this little yellow Uniqlo cotton cashmere cardigan , £19.99 (perfect for a winter warmer or summer cover up). Unfortunately their online range is quite basic but if you live in England, you’ll find a huge of variety of colours in-store. Whilst shopping at their London Oxford Street branch at the weekend, I came across loads of coloured block items such as funky bright coloured cotton vest tops, pink and green skinny jeans and plenty more.

Gingham shirts
I also spotted an uber cool gingham shirt with a drawstring waist for only £19.99 at Uniqlo. Checked shirts were a massive hit in 2008 and are most certainly here to stay, at least for this summer.

I love Gingham shirts right now. They’re easy and comfortable to wear. There are loads of ways you can wear them, you’ll find neat, tailored or ruffled ones for smarter occasions and oversized ones for more of a thrown on look.

Florals
I really enjoyed Luella Bartley’s collection, she especially highlighted the floral favourite with her stunning dresses and blouses.

Kate Moss identified the garden theme last year with her collection for Topshop making it an instant style statement.

If you’re looking for a transferable floral number to tide you through seasons, I found this beautiful ruffle dress at Topshop (£45). It’s sleek and chic with tights or very skinny jeans, and then going into Spring/ Summer it will look pretty and girly with a pair of sandals.

A little tip... when wearing any cool colours or fancy florals, either keep it simple for a sophisticated look or mix it up a bit with some vintage prints or statement jewellery.

Denim
This Spring Summer update wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the fashion favourite that is denim. For years, jeans in their many forms (skinny, flared, boot-cut and high-waisted) have been a huge part of a woman’s wardrobe, updating season after season. The best thing about them is they go with almost everything and there is a style and shape for everybody!

There is only one basic rule for the jean phenomenon, that is, for a fuller or pear-shaped figure, a darker shade, flares or a boot-cut leg will have a slimming effect whereas a lighter shade makes a skinny figure appear curvier.

Beyonce on the other hand goes against all the rules; she is frequently spotted in skinnys and still looks fantastic, so there really are no absolutes. Skinny jeans do accentuate every curve and boot cut’s or flares hide a little more but as long as you’re comfortable and confident, that’s what matters most! If you’re experimenting with high waisted jeans, try a fitted top tucked in to accentuate that fabulous waist. Skinny belts also look super stylish with High waist jeans.

I know cheap chic is probably preferable right now to most, however a good quality pair of denims is always a great investment. They’re a wardrobe staple and if they fit you well, they will be your bottoms friend for years to come!

These leopard lovelies sported by Fearne Cotton are a style not many can pull off, but if you dare to try, you’ll be bang on trend for Spring as the 80’s revival is on its way. If these aren’t your cup of tea, dig out an old retro pair that will definitely go with more.

Kelly Brooke favours the high waisted, flared and faded combo.

No two figures are identical so my advice is to spend a little time finding a pair of jeans that suit your own body shape perfectly. Here are two of my favourites, both priced under £50/$80 they don’t break the bank either!

I love these Iggy Vintage Wash Skinny Jeans from Asos, great with heels or flip flops.

With a slight “boyfriend jeans” influence, these French Connection 'Okayama' flares are lovely. This particular shape will flatter most physiques and the dark denim is versatile, as it’s suitable for smart or casual occasions depending on what you team it up with.

Finally….

I thought I would give you a quick preview of the other Spring Summer trends which were hot to trot on the catwalks.

Paul and Joe, the growing Parisian label mixes two key trends with this cute floral jumpsuit making flowers and all-in-ones suddenly very wearable. To check out a slideshow of their full range including lots of floral items click here.

As I’ve mentioned before, accessories are so important. I was extremely excited to see fringed accessories making their way into the high street giants for this season.

This Black Pyramid Stud Clutch from Miss Selfridge ticks both boxes with fringing and clutch bag qualities, and a snip at £25.

Ruffles are still going to be huge, both on clothing and shoes. Baggy Harem trousers are a new biggie too, I've spotted a few celebs sporting Harem trousers recently.

New Year, New Wardrobe!

So it’s the beginning of January ladies and I’m sure we are all feeling the cold as well as the credit crunch pinch, but there really is no need to fear, as the fashion news for 2009 is finally here!

This month is always a tough one for keeping up to date with trends and different style notes given the madness of Christmas and the need to economise.

Luckily for us, this January it's all about refashioning and personally customising your existing wardrobe using key accessories. This is great news as accessories can fit any type of budget and become staple members of any fashionistas apparel. Refashioning is not a new phenomenon though, the working women of the 1940’s had to do it when their men went to war by transforming their daywear to nightwear, casual wear to work wear and so on. A new style along with a sense of individuality has always been achieved by recycling old outfits and looking at them in different ways. So, below I find the best of the best (accessories) and the rest is in your wardrobe.

Hats are always a winner for winter weather, but this year they are back with a bang! No more excuses needed for those bad hair days, just take your pick of beret, bowler or beanie and away you go.

The beret hat was originally French but has since become a favourite for designers and celebrities everywhere. Vera Wang’s ‘Lavender label’ 2008 collection shows the beret in its original style……….yet Fergie, Hilary Duff and Rihanna highlight the versatility of the French beauty and how it can be worn in many ways and on many occasions.

Although wearing a beret or beanie in a slouchy style seems to be the trend at the moment, be sure to pick one that suits your individual style.

Rihanna is on the ball with her grey embellished hat. Embellishment is huge this season and it can take you from day through to night. Why not try accessorising your own hat with some sequins or a pretty brooch? This stunning Pansy Brooch from Banana Republic is a real beauty and would transform any regular hat into a vintage find.

Brooches are a great investment as you can also wear the same brooch on a plain Jacket making it a little more interesting. Victoria Beckham's brooch works well with her black Jacket.

Of course if you do need to update your hat collection, then ASOS have treated us with this gorgeous oversized knitted beanie in three colours (Black, Navy and Cream) all retailing under £8/$12.

Fearne Cotton shows just how cool she really is in a Charlie Chaplin style bowler hat, this again is a great hat choice for a relaxed shopping trip as Fearne highlights but it would also look fabulous with a fitted tuxedo jacket (hot for 2009), skinny jeans and those favourite killer heels.

The other main player in the accessories department is jewellery. The most significant style for early 2009 is layered necklaces; these offer an alternative to trying to find a fancy, detailed top as well as adding that extra glamour to your Little Black dress. Never wear huge earrings and a statement necklace as it can often look too much and the charm of one can be lost.
I simply love this Vintage inspired medallion layered necklace from ASOS retailing at £9.97 / $19.94. Its gold, it’s chunky and its metallic which is also a mega must-have for 2009.

Kate Moss opts for a more casual look with her Medallion Necklace and it still looks great.

I also found this beaded vintage looking Ralph Lauren necklace ($78 at Bloomingdales), a great piece of jewellery that would liven up any outfit, day or night!

My final pointer to set you on your way into January is the idea of reinventing your current winter coat or an old one. I know the thought of the miserable weather continuing can seem bleak but I see no sign of it disappearing just yet and that means we have to keep cosy but cool for maybe one month more.

As discussed earlier, embellishment is on trend along with big flowers and this is also perfect for pinning a flower or brooch on the collar or trim of a jacket. Another quick and easy way to customise your coat is to cover the buttons and turn up the cuffs to reveal some different fabric on the inside of your coat. This can make a real difference and totally spice up an otherwise plain coat; I’m sure most of us have at least one sitting in the wardrobe, some not having been worn for ages!

You can buy covered buttons from any haberdashery store for next to nothing. Simply replace the old ones or if you’re feeling confident you can choose any material you wish and cover the old ones yourself! This is such a fun idea which anybody can do and adding your own personal touches will most certainly ensure that nobody else has the same coat as you.

A few simple changes really can make all the difference so start rifting through that wardrobe and get creative this January!

Baby it's cold outside!

Getting ready in the morning can turn into a bit of a dilemma when all of a sudden you need to take the ultra cold weather into consideration! Below I find out how some of my favourite celebrities are keeping it stylish on the streets this Winter-time!

Sienna Miller wears her wardrobe staple blue skinny jeans, black patent ballet flats, a long sleeved grey top, cropped orange and black detailed jacket, Balenciaga biker bag and shades

Mary-Kate Olsen keeps it trendy but comfortable in an extra long striped scarf and hat. This scarf is gorgeous, big scarves are very hot this season!

Justin Timberlake's flame Jessica Biel looks sleek in a nautical Jumper, blue skinny jeans and leather boots. Comfortable, clean-cut but stylish.

Lauren Conrad of 'The hills' plays it safe with a Turqoise Jacket and black trousers (I love her hairstyle too!)

Jessica Alba goes for a walk in a long patterned jacket, green hat and black leggings. I like this, it's comfy and cute!

Taylor Momsen looks stunning in a long sleeved vintage style dress layered with a nautical long sleeved top underneath finished off with tights and ankle boots. This is a great look for shopping. Not so good for a walk in the park.

Kate Hudson throws on a bit of a combo (tartan scarf, oversized cardi, skinny jeans, boots and a huge bag) but I think it works, she looks hot!

Jennifer Aniston steps out in head-to-toe black. Not very adventurous but I love the Jacket.

Kirsten Dunst does 'rock chic' in her checked jacket, floral skirt, tights and lace up boots (which I'm still a little undecided about). Cute.

No change on the fashion front with new parents Ashlee Simpson-Wentz and Pete Wentz. They always look insync, super-comfortable & trendy.

Lolita Fashion

Lolita fashion is a fast growing trend influence on the runways and streets right now. It's feminine, chic, easy to wear and really comfortable; most definitely a style to embrace! Just don’t think ‘promiscuous girl’ when you think of Lolita with regard to Fashion as the essence of this style is quite the contrary. The primary influence for Lolita Fashion is “the Victorian child” with that extending to a ‘child-like’ appearance in general. Typically, you’d have a little less skin on show and look more on the pretty, girly, Victorian or deliberately plain side – certainly not ‘overtly’ sexy (unless you're venturing toward Goth-Lolita).

You really don’t need to go all out “Japanese Lolita” with frilly hat’s an umbrella’s when attempting this style. It works well when you take your favourite key Lolita pieces and mix them up with a bit of your own style; thus keeping a Lolita feel but adapting it to the 21st century! Of course there’s nothing stopping you from going all out Lolita either! No doubt it’ll be a head turner!

Old fashioned Vintage dresses, High necked blouses, Ruffles, Lace, Frills, Floral’s, Tights, Bows, Short mid waist skirts, Cardigans, White Socks, lace-up Oxford shoes, Shoe Boots, Ankle Boots and Mary Janes are some key pieces that perfectly represent the essence of Lolita Style Dress. These are uber-chic when accompanied with more modern pieces like skinny jeans and oversized handbags. Experiment with your own wardrobe staples to get a look that suits you best.

For your hair, try plaits including alice-band plaits as Sienna and Mary Kate Olsen do it. Pony tails are cute too as well as a fringe or a bob (or both as Alexa Chung does it!). You can even save a some time and leave your hair looking a little unkempt, like you’ve just been playing outside!

This is a great trend to try out and it's so easy to carry off. For a bit of inspiration I’ve rustled up some celebrity candids where the Lolita influence is apparent.

The Christmas Party Dress

With Halloween and Guy Fawkes recently passed, now is the time we all start feeling the Christmas spirit, yes the much anticipated season full of festivities! You can be sure that there will be plenty of party invitations; Christmas-time is most everybody’s excuse to kick back and enjoy themselves after a long year of work or study!

Don’t be left wondering what to wear! Whether you are after a newer LBD or something a completely different, now is the time to start hunting around for that perfect party dress (or more if you don’t want to be seen in the same outfit twice!... don’t worry you can always sell them on Fabricjam after you’ve worn them!).

If they haven’t already, many retailers will have their party dresses hitting the stores this week and it’s up to you to find that gem amongst the rubble.

I’ve spent some time browsing around and have managed to track down some great dresses to offer you some style tips and inspiration. If you’re sitting at an office desk – it’s the next best thing to being in a fashion show! (I’ve included the weblinks should you wish to buy any).

So these are my favourite little finds…

Oasis is always one of my first stops when I’m looking for something a little special and yet again they haven’t disappointed. My favourite from the collection is this beautiful art deco dress.£110

It tackles one of the biggest trends this season, sequins, which on paper could be a disaster but in reality it is truly gorgeous.

If you just can’t live without your Little Black Dress then why not take a look at the range devoted to them at Oasis. My favourite from the LBD range is this foil lace creation. The classic shift shape makes the dress timeless while the lace design feature is bang on trend for this season. Just team with thick black tights and sky-high heels, keep accessories to a minimum and let the dress do the talking! £75 (Link to buy)

Kate Moss launched her Christmas range for Topshop last week, which included some great party ideas. This aptly named ‘flirty dress’ is gorgeous and is available in two colours. (Link to buy )

This dress would work perfectly for a work Christmas party as it can be worn from day to night. And when the summer months come back around it can be worn without tights and your favourite pair of Havaianas!

And again, Topshop wouldn’t be complete without its own version of the LBD. (Link to buy)

This dress is gorgeous and adds a little fun to the normally plain LBD…it’s also quite reasonable at just £40!

My final High Street best buys come from a different source than usual, Debenhams! Perhaps not one of your normal stops on the High Street for party wear, but their more recent collections are definitely worth taking a look.

If your are lucky enough to be attending a truly glamorous Christmas party then you will be set to turn some heads in this classic red dress (also a massive colour for this season!) Think Katherine Heigl at the Oscars this year...

Remember if the colour is brighter than your usual, or if the detail is interesting then it’s wise to play it down with classic jewellery and thick black tights. Here Sienna does doesn’t let anything detract from the intricate detail on her Balenciaga dress.

...And lastly, don’t worry if you play it safe with a LBD, they’re called a classic for a reason... They are slimming, flattering, can be adapted to any style and quite simply never go out of Fashion!

Socks and Heels

I'll take you back to the 2004 Autumn Winter Collection where Socks and Heels were worn on the Cacharel, Marni and Dior Runways. We were told back then by 'Vogue' that this style was going to be a massive hit! I'm not sure about you, but I hadn't seen anybody in person donning the 'short sock' with heels look over the past few years until very recently. Yes people have been wearing 'over the knee socks' for a while, but short socks? Not so much.

Everybody has a their own unique style nowadays, street fashion quite simply isn't as structured and regimented as it used to be and I love that. People aren't afraid to be quirky and experiment with different genre's of dress such as Vintage, Retro, Brick Lane, Punk, Festival, Rock n Roll, ... (I could go on for a while). Perhaps this is why Socks and Heels fit in so well now in 2008 as opposed to 2004. Or perhaps it's just another case of designers doing their job rather well and foreseeing the trend waaay ahead of us mere mortals.

So, how to wear it on the Street?

Wearing socks and heels with a dress or something pretty can look kind of 'bobby-sock' Lolita cute as Peaches Geldof does it. Don't be too afraid though, the 'Lolita look' is totally in at the moment with the likes of Alexa Chung confessing that Lolita is one of her favourite icons and stating she loves dressing like a child: 'I'm dressed like a five-year-old' she said in her interview with the Telegraph .

If cute is definitely not your thing, then you can do as Chloe Sevigny does here and team socks and heels up with a bit of Vintage, Rock or Retro gear producing a quirky yet undoubtedly stylish look.

As with any trend, you need to adapt it to your own individual style to get a result that you feel comfortable with. There aren't many boundaries as to which style shoe you can wear with socks - though I personally wouldn't wear the pointed court shoe with socks. This is a great day or night time look, so I say go to town with it (try different colour socks and outfits), don't analyze it too much, as long as you feel comfortable and confident I'm sure you'll look great!

The Shoe Boot

Right now I'm loving the 'Shoe Boot': Comfy, stylish & warm! The shoe boot is nothing new, they're actually very old-fashioned, but they've slowly crept back into fashion over the past couple of years.

I love them because they're edgy and a little bit different to the usual ankle boots - which is what makes them so stylish. They're also great if you want to tone down a dress giving it a bit more of an effortless, carefree look. Add a cardigan and you've got a great casual daytime look! You can take this style to whatever extreme you like depending on what you team them up with. I like to wear mine with a pair of very skinny jeans and a cape. Skirts and dresses and with tights look fab with shoe boots too! Kiera Knightly, Sienna Miller and Alexa Chung below wear the shoe boot well in these pics.

Thankfully, you can buy shoe boots in various interpretations pretty much anywhere at the moment. I've picked out a few of my favourites.

Fantasizing is free of course, but if you've cleverly been saving up those pennies for the new season, you could always choose from some of Christian Louboutin's beautiful designs.

I love these Christian Louboutin C'est Moi Shoe boots (£430 / around $860) - they also have them in Pink.

I simply adore these lace ups designed by Kenneth Cole.

Jimmy Choo has produced a gorgeous little pair of tribal influenced Shoe boots complete with the peep toe (hotly tipped to be very in this season!). These are retailing at £550 (around $1100). Oh If only!

Rupert Sanderson's Kit Kat shoe boots (£615 / $1230) have an interesting twist at the front. Love it. The contrasting white heel is gorgeous too.
Ever so slightly more affordable, the talented Marc Jacobs has come up with a patent navy shoe boot to die for. How does he do it? Simply beautiful.

Another beautful Marc Jacobs creation, it so wouldn't be Marc Jacobs if it didn't have an innovative heel!
I simply adore the shape of French Connections 'Jennifer boot' retailing at £135 (around $270)

Love these gorgeous boots from La Redoute, encompassing a bit of the 'gladiator' look. Long length tongue adds an extra style twist. These are currently selling at £55 (around $110).

These black leather hidden platform shoe boots from New look are stylish too, would look great with skinny jeans and a cape, currently retailing at £40 (around $80).

The Chanel 2.55

With Christmas not too long away now, its time to start writing your Christmas wishlist…and top of mine is a quilted Chanel 2.55 bag!

The bag is named 2.55, as it was created in February 1955. This long standing Accessory is still a huge fashion 'must have' today, and is frequently seen decorating the arms of countless celebrities. The bag is versatile enough to be adapted to many different styles from day casual to career and evening wear. Here Alexa Chung looks stunning wearing hers combined with a 'typical Alexa' black satin bow dress.

Back in 1955 it was Coco Chanel herself with the bag on her arm, and nowdays it's no less than the beautiful Polish model Daria Werbowy who models the timeless Chanel 2.55. Yes it's all about iconic fashion!

Mischa Barton, Mary-Kate Olsen and Victoria Beckham are all devotee's of the quilted bag, and as you can see, it's not just black that makes a statement. The bag is also available in white, Gold, silver and red.

Sienna Miller and Lindsay Lohan both love their Chanel 2.55 handbag.

If you are interested in picking up one for yourself, then you will have to visit one of the boutiques as you cant get them online. It will be worth the journey though for the quality of service and gift-wrapping!

The bags retail in the early thousands, so if this is slightly out of your price range then you can always borrow one. Yes, you read right, you can now borrow designer bags from online sites such as Fashionhire.co.uk. You can pick up a Chanel 2.55 for around £70 a month.

Of course, if this is still a little out of your price range then the High Street has a number of interpretations available.

Not always an obvious choice but Dorothy Perkins are so on trend this season, especially with this patent Chanel inspired quilted bag for just £12!

If you love Chanel as much as I do and you happen to live in the UK, then may I suggest you take a trip to Primark this week, they have a gorgeous tweed Chanel inspired jacket selling at £17 and beautiful quilted pumps in cream and black that just scream Coco! Just team with a plain white tee and your favourite pair of skinny jeans for a fantastic street look.

I'm with the band!

This season is going to see the return of bands such as Led Zepplin, AC\DC and The Police. No, no they’re not doing a ‘Take That’ and reforming, they’re appearing across the chests of stars such as Kylie, Lindsey Lohan and Carmen Electra.

Stars have adopted the look with the likes of Kylie supporting 'The Police' and Lindsay supporting 'Iron Maiden' with their retro Tee's.

As for wear to buy them, vintage is always best. Beyond Retro and Rokit are both great shops to pick up a vintage band tee, but be prepared to pay a little more for the truly retro bands.

If rummaging through racks of Vintage clothes isn’t your thing, the Internet is always a good place to start. Moretvicar.com is a great website where you can buy vintage t-shirts and they come in both men’s and women’s (Men’s t-shirts are easily adaptable and can give you a cool oversized look).

I love this Sex Pistols t-shirt, with diamantes to add a little femininity to the look, for £35.

And of course, ASOS is not far behind with a wide range of Junk Food t-shirts. (which pay homage to not just bands but to superheroes too!) including

If you are still unsure on how to wear this trend, here are my 5 Band Tee rules:

1) Retro is best: Make sure you stick to old bands rather than contemporary ones. If your Tee looks too new then you’ve got the style wrong.

2) Don’t wear it too tight. Why not go a size or two bigger? For an evening look tuck into a high-waisted pencil skirt or with super skinny jeans and killer heels.

3) For a day look, team with a pair of converse or ripped denim shorts, tights and pumps. If you’re a little more adventurous, why not follow in Aggy’s footsteps and team with a pair of tailored trousers and braces.

4) If you can’t find the exact style you like, you can always customise! Slash the neck line for a truly 80’s look (set to be big this season!)

5) Finally and most importantly, keep it simple and relaxed. To avoid looking contrived keep hair and make up to a minimum but perhaps add some gothic dark nails.

Inspired to Accessorize

Accessories add the perfect finishing touch to any outfit. A gorgeous necklace, bracelet, earrings or the right handbag, belt, tights or scarf can be really eye-catching, stylish and expressive. If your outfit is a little on the plain side, you can really go to town with accessories.

I'm especially loving long gold and silver vintage necklaces, plain or with charms. These can come understated and thin or bold and chunky as Sienna does here. You can wear a few or buy them as a group of necklaces connected together. Pretty diamonds, pearls and charms always look sophistocated and glamorous - especially on that special occasion or on a night out. Interesting, bold and chunky bits are great eye-candy if you don't mind people looking! Be adventurous, creative and wear your accessories with confidence - don't offer any apologies and you'll pull it off just fine!

Animal print and vintage inspired bracelets/bangles, neck scarves and handbags are also a hot trend at the moment. I particularly love the Peacock feather earrings that you'll find in different variations at a lot of stores right now. Ever since Sienna Miller stepped out in that Matthew Williamson Peacock dress in 2005, Peacock feathers have braced many a catwalk and we've seen them adapted to and used on many different items.

Big, bold and interesting ear-rings are still very much in, but check and be careful with wearing weighty ear-rings as wearing these too often can severely and permanently distort the shape of your ears.

Skinny belts look extremely stylish sitting around the waist, gathering in looser fitting shirts, dresses and tunics. Wide waist belts are still very much in fashion too!

Scarves, wraps and Pashmina's look stunning worn so many ways, around the shoulders, neck, waist or even a little one tied to your handbag!

Handbags and purses are gorgeous in all shapes and sizes this season. You can go: Large or Small; Nappa or Shiny patent leather; Hippy Hobo style or Neat; Large or Small clutch; Bright or Neutral coloured (to name but a few different styles!) As you can see - there really are virtually no exclusions. It's all about being yourself, using different handbags with different outfits, being bold, creative and finding what fits in with your own personal style.

This is most certainly a season where almost anything goes. As long as you love what you wearing, you will look comfortable in your own skin and it will almost certainly look chic.

It's Cool to be Comfortable!

Knitwear is set to be massive this season, with designers such as Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane and House of Holland showcasing their best knitting skills on the catwalk. The look this season is all about comfort and layering. Think chunky turtles necks and fine knit dresses. As Teen Vogue’s Fashion Director has sighted: "It’s ‘cool to be comfortable’ this season".

Forget knitting being reserved for your Gran and badly fitting cable knit (well fitted cable knit actually looks fab and is a definite 'must have' this season!) Knitwear has infiltrated most aspects of our wardrobes as of this autumn. From skirts to dresses to capes, the High Street is full of knitwear!

Normally I would advise not to ‘over-do’ a trend but that’s out the window this season! Wear knitwear head to toe, in combination with another big trend this season, layering!

Stars from Peaches Geldof and Hillary Duff to supermodel Claudia Schiffer have adopted the look.

As usual, Topshop is amongst the early adopters of this trend with a wide variety of knitted products on offer. From this knitted cape at £40 to this great knitted gilet at £38.

If you are heading out on to the High Street then I strongly suggest you pay Mango a visit. Mango’s latest collection is full of greys, deep purples and of course a spectrum of knits. From cable to fine knits, you will find something that suits you. H&M have also just launched their Autumnal offer, complete with cable knit skirts, and hot tipped product of the season, jumper dresses.

On the web, my two favourite e-tailers, ASOS and Oli.co.uk have chipped in to help knitwear become one of the biggest trends this season. I love this Chanel-inspired cardi at £45, just like style icon Alexa Chung.

Jackets & Coats for Fall 2008

When your outfit and accessories are all covered up, then you need to make sure that jacket or coat is extra-stylish!

The bad news is that the colours instore and on the runways are not very bold this season, with most ranges sticking to black, navy and grey tones. The designers are however pushing some major style boundaries with Varying prints, Big prominent bows, Victorian influenced ruffles and shoulders, Tailored leather jackets with mid length sleeves, Back gatherings, Extreme long length and Man-suit influenced tails (my personal favourite!).

These days, it's not even uncommon to be able to find a stylish and well fitting Jacket in a lower end store such as Primark or Target with some items even being featured in Vogue and Grazia magazine. Unfortunately the fact remains that you do get what you pay for, hence the quality will not always be up to scratch, but I see nothing wrong with a little budget shopping, mixing and matching.

I've done a little browsing for you - and found a handful of gorgeous jackets that are selling online and in-stores right now. Be it to show you where to buy the best styles or to offer you some quality fashion inspiration, have fun looking. If you're sitting at your office desk and can't get to a fashion show, then this really is the next best thing!

This Belted Waterfall Jacket from Topshop (selling at £65.00) is my favourite. The designer has been rather adventurous with the use of Ruffles, a huge Bow and checks but its definitely a winner - a perfect combination that really works. As the warmer weather fast disappears, I deemed this topic to be quite appropriate. Layering is a great styling method for this season and through Winter!

When done right, layering your clothing creates an effortlessly cool look that's comfortable, unique and versatile. It's also a really great way to get more wear out of your favourite bits all year round!

I like to take inspiration from shots of a few 'old hats' who's efforts usually come out right, such as Mary Kate Olsen, Sienna Miller, Gwen Stefani, Kate Moss and even Kiera Knightley. You can also take some inspiration from the catwalks and layer your career wear too! We all know plain office suits went out a long long time ago, and seeing as some of us spend most of our time at work, why not spice up your office gear with a little layering?

I must warn you that even though layering can look fantastic - it can also go quite terribly wrong, resulting in a look that's mismatched and rather unflattering. So learning how to do it right is key.

I have 15 simple practical tips for achieving fantastic results when attempting this trend. We all have such unique features which we prefer to emphasize as well as varying body shapes and colourings, so you can take on board the tips which work for yourself. For me, fashion is all about retaining your own individuality whilst experimenting with new idea's and pushing a few boundaries. I don't believe in hard and fast "fashion rules" for all.

So here are my top 15 tips for layering effectively:

1) Work with a base of one or two simple key colours, then add a few bits that brighten up the outfit, such as a colourful scarf, cardigan, top, Jacket, leggings, tights, shoes, handbag, purse accessories or a hat

2) Remember black makes you look thinner and if you're wearing a few items, this can be helpful

3) Stick to skinny jeans, tights, leggings if you are wearing more items on your top half, this being to keep some of your shape in view. If you're wearing "boyfriend" style jeans, then keep the top half fitted with a vest, fitted cardi and perhaps a bomber jacket if it's chilly

4) Scarves, Pashmina's and wraps look great with layered clothing, especially if you can find some unique bold colours, designs and prints. Right now I'm loving animal prints

5) Different kinds of Hats can be pulled off easily with this look, so experiment a little

6) Dresses or long tops over skinny jeans look stylish

7) Smaller more fitted bomber or vintage, 50's style jackets retain a slender look

8) When going for a bigger jacket, try keep the rest of your clothing a little more fitted to ensure some of your silhouette is visible

9) The 'androgynous' style works when layering, but too much in this style will extract all femininity

10) Ruffles on tops, dresses, necklines etc are great eye candy and can be a perfect key piece

11) Remember too much is never a good thing, so if you're going for a really bold key item, then keep the rest a little more low key

12) Colours are exciting and get you noticed. Be adventurous, but use your common sense... some colours just don't go together!

13) As with any style - work with your own body, accentuate your best bits

14) Break all the rules if it looks good!

Last but certainly not least, and this may well sound like a cliche but I consider it a vital key to the success of any outfit:

15) Be comfortable, confident and like yourself in whatever you're wearing as that has a huge effect on your posture, walk, facial expressions and the overall look of an outfit. Never underestimate the importance and benefits of accepting yourself and loving you just the way you are.

The new trend hitting the High Street this week is rolled up denim. Think Boyfriend jeans and your favourite pair of heels…carrying your day look right into the the evening.

Celebs Katie Holmes and Rachel Bilson have really perfected this look, resulting in that effortlessly cool look we all love.

Rolled up jeans can be worn with flat pumps during the day like Katie does, but they are really made for showing off statement shoes. I love Katie's Gladiator heels paired up with boyfriend jeans. To complete this as an evening look, team up your jeans and statement shoes with a simple white vest, your sexiest black bra and favourite jewellery.

A good variety of Jeans are a staple in any wardrobe, these styles are also timeless, so it’s definitely worth investing in a good quality pair. For that there is only one place to go and that is Diesel.

These structured, tapered jeans would go perfectly with a killer pair of heels as well as your favourite pumps.

To add a bit of an 80’s feel to your look (which is becoming quite a rage at the moment) why not try a faded or ripped pair of jeans, we love these from Diesel at £120.

And remember if you have a restricted budget; just grab your boyfriends for the perfect

oversized look!

Try not to over-style this look, keep it simple, and remember to wear a fitted top to balance out your baggy bottoms. Festival-wear

Two of the biggest Festivals this summer are over, but thankfully we still have three big festivals to look forward to! Creamfields (23-25th Aug), Reading (23-25th Aug) and Besitval on the Isle of White (5-7th Sept).

With British weather and rustic camping to contend with, you may find it a little tricky to dress accordingly without losing your sense of style, so I’m here to help!

Seeing the likes of Sienna Miller, Kelly Osborne, Ferne Cotton Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Moss (to name just a few of my favourite festival junkies) looking comfortably stylish and chic in festival snapshots has made festival wear a new, unique style of its own which doesn’t necessarily need to be restricted to festivals anymore. Festival style clothing is comfortable, refreshing and non restrictive. People tend to push their own personal boundaries a little with a happy blend of hippy, bohemian, retro, nu-rave and emo... anything goes. We’re now seeing plenty of festival inspired clothing on the street, so even those who don’t plan to attend any of the upcoming festivals - read on for a little fashion inspiration.

Dresses are a super easy, simple and comfortable option for festivals. They also add a little glamour and femininity for those who choose to go it au-natural (sans make-up). Amongst a huge selection of great dresses at Asos, I found this lovely ditsy print dress which would be a perfect dress for any festival (£55).

That’s the clothes sorted, now lets talk wellies! If you prefer a plain pair of Wellies, then Hunter’s are the way to go, seen on the likes of Kate Moss and Sienna Miller. This year they have launched their new ‘Festival’ range retailing at £75.

The clutch bag

So, we're seeing the clutch everywhere this season, but are you hesitant to try them? My first thoughts on the clutch bag trend were: 'extremely stylish, but totally impractical!' I mean, what if I need to use my hands? Having a bag over my shoulder, or in the crook of my arm is what I'm used to and definitely seems a much more sensible and practical option. That was until I spotted a beautiful cream croc skin oversized clutch a few months ago and tried it out... I fell head over heels in love! Seriously, it was so comfortable in the palm of my hand. I bought it and wore it out that weekend, kind of expecting to get irritated with it halfway through the night, but I took the chance anyway because it looked so good.

From my own experience, I would highly recommend a clutch bag now, I love this style. The clutch really fits super comfortably in the palm of your hand. When you sit down it looks pretty on your lap too, and if you need to use your hands - it clutches neatly underneath your arm. The clutch is feminine, stylish arm candy. For those who really can't imagine a bag without a strap, thankfully - you'll find many clutches come with a detachable strap too.

Clutches are extremely versatile and adaptable, they can be worn casually as Kate Moss does in this pic, or on a night out with a stylish dress.

Victoria Beckham looks amazing here with her Special order Hermes Baccara Crocodile Clutch at the Oscar de la Renta Spring 2008 Fashion Show. (http://www.hermes.com/). To me, the clutch is the best and most striking piece of Victoria's well thought out outfit. As I said earlier, they sit perfectly on your lap too when you're sitting! In fact, I think the clutch looks a lot neater than a bulky arm handbag.

I particularly love the style of Mary-kate and Ashley Olsen, they make the clutch look effortlessly stylish here in 2007.

I found this little funky Retro "Yellow Submarine" Beatles clutch bag at http://www.thefest.com/ selling at $29.50. It would brighten up any daytime outfit. Would look fab with a pair of jeans and a T-shirt. I could imagine Agyness Deyn or Peaches Geldof pulling this little clutch off perfectly.

New Look make plenty of really cute and inexpensive clutches, such as this Limited Edition Over Sized Snake Print Clutch (http://www.newlook.co.uk/) which is selling at £20, you can buy it in Gold or Black. Personally, I love any kind of animal influenced items, be it skin or prints, it can add a real edge to Accessories.

I also found this gorgeous little woven clutch for only £5, which you can buy in Brown, Red or Silver.

Fashion’s Tartan Army

OK, so when you hear the word ‘tartan’ thrown into a sentence, you’re probably not alone in picturing a man in a kilt... but not anymore!

With thanks to a few inspirational figures such as Vivienne Westwood, Agyness Deyn and her close friend, designer Henry Holland, to name a few, tartan became one of the prints of the season for Spring/Summer 08 and it looks to be staying well into the Autumn.

The eccentric partnership of Henry Holland and Agyness Deyn first experimented with tartan when Holland produced a tiered tartan wedding dress (along with eye-patch and antlers!) for London Fashion Week for Spring/Summer 08.

Fast-forward to Paris Fashion Week, for Autumn/Winter 08, D&G featured the pattern across coats and dresses with House of Holland, Ralph Lauren and Just Cavalli echoing the movement.

With the likes of Aggy and Gwen Stefani pioneering the look, the High Street has caught on quickly with tartan appearing across a wide range of products from dresses to jackets to shorts, all in a variety of colour ways.

The way to wear tartan differs depending on you really. Personally, I would go for one key tartan piece like this tartan trench coat from Topshop at £80.

Partner it with a simple vest, super skinny jeans and of course the standard skyscraper heels like these from Carvela (£85) for a Vivienne Westwood feel.

If even this is a little bold for you then accessories are a great way to introduce this trend into your wardrobe. We love this Tartan Flower Headband Topshop, £6

Or perhaps you could try a check shirt for a more muted attempt at the trend. Make a trip to New Look for this stunning check shirt (£14).

Alternatively, for the more adventurous, the way to wear tartan is to mix and match multiple checks throughout your outfit. Perhaps teaming a plaid prom dress, like this one from Oasis with a fitted jacket like these from Topshop, similar to the D&G look this season.

The Asos Sale has just started, so I’ve scoured the site to find the biggest discounts on the best items to save you some time if thats one thing you really don’t have!

Unfortunately a lot of the lower end/priced Asos clothing does ‘look’ a little lower end with cheaper, more synthetic fabrics dominating most rails. You can however find some neat little bits in amongst these, sometimes it does take some time spent searching.
