Katie Holmes dazzes in ad campaign for Miu Miu!

Katie Holmes is just full of surprises! Watching her act in her role as Joey Potter, an intelligent, philosophical and bordering on innocent teen on cult tv programme Dawsons Creek, one would never have thought her life would turn out quite the way it has.

Over the course of just a few years Katie Holmes has married Tom Cruise, given birth to a beautiful little girl Suri Cruise, joined the church of Scientology, befriended Victoria Beckham, Acted in Broadway Production, and now... completely nailed it in a spectacular photoshoot for Miu-Miu's Spring 2009 ad campaign. We heard that she was going to do it back in November but I certainly didn't expect it to be this good. In my opinion this eastern influenced shoot is one that will turn heads and will most certainly prove to be a huge success for the uber-trendy design house.

Every shot conveys it's own unique emotive qualities. Katies perfectly defined facial structure and natural beauty is highlighted by the rooms intense lighting contrasts and deep shadows. Katie looks comfortable in front of the camera and encompasses the look of being striking yet graceful in every shot. I love the lighting, the bold and deep colours contrasting with black shadows, the outfits, mosaic prints, fabrics, heels, drapery. What is there not to like about this campaign? Katie Holmes has truly put herself on the map as a model, see for yourself...

Lolita Fashion

Lolita fashion is a fast growing trend influence on the runways and streets right now. It's feminine, chic, easy to wear and really comfortable; most definitely a style to embrace! Just don’t think ‘promiscuous girl’ when you think of Lolita with regard to Fashion as the essence of this style is quite the contrary. The primary influence for Lolita Fashion is “the Victorian child” with that extending to a ‘child-like’ appearance in general. Typically, you’d have a little less skin on show and look more on the pretty, girly, Victorian or deliberately plain side – certainly not ‘overtly’ sexy (unless you're venturing toward Goth-Lolita).


You really don’t need to go all out “Japanese Lolita” with frilly hat’s an umbrella’s when attempting this style. It works well when you take your favourite key Lolita pieces and mix them up with a bit of your own style; thus keeping a Lolita feel but adapting it to the 21st century! Of course there’s nothing stopping you from going all out Lolita either! No doubt it’ll be a head turner!


Old fashioned Vintage dresses, High necked blouses, Ruffles, Lace, Frills, Floral’s, Tights, Bows, Short mid waist skirts, Cardigans, White Socks, lace-up Oxford shoes, Shoe Boots, Ankle Boots and Mary Janes are some key pieces that perfectly represent the essence of Lolita Style Dress. These are uber-chic when accompanied with more modern pieces like skinny jeans and oversized handbags. Experiment with your own wardrobe staples to get a look that suits you best.


















For your hair, try plaits including alice-band plaits as Sienna and Mary Kate Olsen do it. Pony tails are cute too as well as a fringe or a bob (or both as Alexa Chung does it!). You can even save a some time and leave your hair looking a little unkempt, like you’ve just been playing outside!

This is a great trend to try out and it's so easy to carry off. For a bit of inspiration I’ve rustled up some celebrity candids where the Lolita influence is apparent.

Roll up your Boyfriend Jeans!

The new trend hitting the High Street this week is rolled up denim. Think Boyfriend jeans and your favourite pair of heels…carrying your day look right into the the evening.

Celebs Katie Holmes and Rachel Bilson have really perfected this look, resulting in that effortlessly cool look we all love.

Rolled up jeans can be worn with flat pumps during the day like Katie does, but they are really made for showing off statement shoes. I love Katie's Gladiator heels paired up with boyfriend jeans. To complete this as an evening look, team up your jeans and statement shoes with a simple white vest, your sexiest black bra and favourite jewellery.

A good variety of Jeans are a staple in any wardrobe, these styles are also timeless, so it’s definitely worth investing in a good quality pair. For that there is only one place to go and that is Diesel.

These structured, tapered jeans would go perfectly with a killer pair of heels as well as your favourite pumps.

To add a bit of an 80’s feel to your look (which is becoming quite a rage at the moment) why not try a faded or ripped pair of jeans, we love these from Diesel at £120.

And remember if you have a restricted budget; just grab your boyfriends for the perfect

oversized look!

Try not to over-style this look, keep it simple, and remember to wear a fitted top to balance out your baggy bottoms. If you choose to wear them with pumps during the day - then a statement scarf or Chanel inspired jacket (check out Peacocks for their new autumn/winter collection, out September 1st!) are a must.

If you’re carrying this look into the evening then the bigger the heels the better!!
